Turkey Tail Mushrooms Fight Cancer

Turkey Tail

Can Asheville local mushrooms fight cancer?  Ty Bollinger’s article below is inspiring.  He first discusses four mushrooms which have medicinal value in fighting and preventing cancer, with minimal side-effects.  Then he covers several delivery methods.  Finally he lets you know what to look for in supplement labels.

The following three mushrooms are local to the Western North Carolina Asheville area:

Reishi Mushrooms Fight Cancer

  1. Reishi as an adjunct therapy for colorectal, lung, prostrate, and breast cancer.  It has bright red and yellowish/orange colors with a varnished look that darkens as it matures.

  2. Maitake has clinically shown promise with breast and lung cancer.  This species forms on the roots of dying or dead oak trees.

  3. Turkey tail can target oncoviruses, (tumor viruses,) leading to cervical or liver cancers.  Look for it virtually anywhere there are dead hardwood logs or stumps.
